Pair of Kayserzinn Pewter Knife Rests

A pair of Kayserzinn Pewter crouching Lioness Knife rests with stamped marks. Length 12cm. Designer unknown but likely designed by Hugo Leven who modelled from clay with a thumb pessure technique from which the pewter casts were made. Circa 1900.

Kaysezinn traded as J.P Kayser and Son in Krefeld-Bockum and was known for its progressive style. It was the leading factory in the production of Jugendstil pewter in the period 1894-1912.
